VU7AG – Lakshadweep Islands 2013

VU7AG a team on Indian radio amateurs  is now active from Agatti Island in the  Laccadives (Lakshadweep islands).

It certainly looks like a nice place to visit and WOW what a location for 160 Meters.

 

I was sitting at my radio when they came on 160 Meters with a tremendous signal.  I understand that they have built a proper top loaded transmit vertical and what a difference from what I had heard from them before.

I still can hardly believe that I got through so quickly, this was truly magical.   A testament to the power of the Arctic King.

A few hours later I heard them on 40M and in less than 2 minutes they were in the log…They appear to hear really well, although having a full size Rhombic into their direction may have helped ;-)
